My 2013 Leagues

maple_leaf_poloI am sorted for the National and Merdeka leagues.  I will play the National League (5 to 7 goals) with Claudia Zeisberger’s Maple Leaf Polo team, and the Merdeka League (0 to 2 goals) with David Morais’ and my Hookahs, combining with Lagenda’s Jennifer Too and Ali Mazlan Harun.  The Legendary Hookahs ride again!

The Lagenda Hookahs have unfinished business.

Jenn Too, David and myself played together with Julian Sagarna as the Lagenda Hookahs in 2011.  We won at Bukit Kiara and were runners-up in Pahang.  I got injured by a bad ride-off from a drug-addled pro, and never finished the season.  Playing with Yudie Fazly Jamili, the team never got it together and slumped to a 5th place finish at the RSPC Merdeka League Final.   It cost us the league as we tied on points but La Pampa beat us to the championship based on their final placing in the last tournament.

Playing with the Maple Leaf Polo team will be different in that I will be pulling on a Canadian shirt.  I went to university in Canada (University of Western Ontario), and still have many friends there.  It is a country close to my heart.

Having Claudia play the National League in Malaysia is a big achievement.  It is always nice to get a new patron to play here, and she is able to play because of the support of HRH Prince Abdullah and Royal Pahang, who are leasing her some horses to augment her 10 horse string.  She will mount herself and her pros with 15 ponies.  I will mount myself.

I hope Claudia and her son Everest enjoy their Malaysian polo experience.  She has played many years in Singapore and now has her horses based at the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Thailand.

In that team I will be reuniting with Julian Sagarna.  I hope we can recreate our Hookahs magic with the Maple Leaf team.

My horses are going really well and they look great.  Purita is back from a spell at Glorious Genting Spelling Station, looking great. Having her fed on Zack’s Tack’s Custom Polo Mix is yielding fantastic results.  I’ll be flying the Mitavite-Asia flag again this season!

Pedro (The Pedrophile or Pedo – the farter) is raring to go.  Colorada is taking her time but will be back down from the hills at the end of January after a minor set-back with an infected cut.  I’ll also have Yeo Kuo Lee’s Picaza to play, and Stanley Sinnappen’s Pilar.  It’s a pretty awesome string of ponies, if I do say so myself.

I’m so stoked I’ve started a pretty good workout regime and have already started to shed the pounds and tighten up.  It’s a long way yet, but I am happy with the start I’ve made.  Plus the fact that I no longer have the occassional, or sometimes more than occasional puff, my stamina is much better than it used to be.

And if anyone needs a handy and well mounted 1-goaler in the International League, let me know.  Then I’ll truly be set for the whole season.
