New Zealand and Malaysia to play-off for place in FIP World Polo Championship

PrintOnly two countries will be playing for the right to represent Zone D at the 2017 FIP World Polo Championships  New Zealand will play Malaysia on Thursday 2nd February at RMPA’s associate club Thai Polo & Equestrian Club.  At stake is a place in the Sydney World Championship Final in October.

None of the other countries in Zone D will be at the Pattaya playoffs.  Australia does not have to qualify.   As host of the World Championship in October, Australia has an automatic place in the final.  Singapore had been expected to take part in the playoffs this year but were a very late withdrawal.

That means that only New Zealand and Malaysia are playing off for the right to represent Zone D at the World Championships.

The Malaysian side has been assembled and has been training under coach Federico Bachmann.   The Malaysian team is:

  1. Amran Selamat,
  2. Tengku Shazril
  3. Shaik Reismann
  4. Saladin Mazlan

New Zealand is represented by:

  1. Henry Wood
  2. Henry Jones
  3. Guy Higginson
  4. Cody Forsyth
